Our New Development Car!

Our New Development Car!

The much anticipated car from Toyota has landed here at POTN! You all seemed to love our previous development car - the Hyundai i30N. That car was a blast, we ended up modifying and improving almost every aspect of the hot hatch and built it into something truly epic! But now we move on to bigger and better things, which  is why I am pleased to announce that we now have the all-new Toyota Yaris GR as our new development car!

Toyota Yaris GR

WHAT DO WE THINK?

As expected We love it! The Car truly handles exceptionally well, it feels tight responsive and torquey throughout the rev range, you cannot help but feel like you are driving in something special, The braking system has a firm pedal feel giving you great reassurance on the B Roads.

That being said there is certainly some things we would like to see an improvement on, the first and main point would be sound, There is no exhaust sound from the vehicle leaving you feeling a little underwhelmed, We feel a good exhaust system on this would make a huge difference in smiles per miles.

We can't wait to get stuck in with modifying this car and sharing lots of exciting content with it in the future. Love it or hate it, the Yaris GR is without a doubt one of the most highly anticipated cars of 2021. We haven't yet had much of a chance to run it in properly, but based of the driving we have done, it truly is one for the driving purists. The 1.6l 3-cylinder turbo engine is derived straight from World Rally Cross, incorporating technology from some of the worlds best modern rally cars such as the GR-Four AWD system in which is the first time Toyota have done this in over 20 years. With a 142mph top speed and 257bhp going through the manual gearbox, the Yaris GR is no slow-poke. Remember those figures, let's see how we can increase them!

CIRCUIT PACK OR CONVENIENCE PACK?

Circuit Pack of course! We wanted to go all out, and when buying a car that has derived straight from motorsport we knew the Circuit Pack would be more ideal for our intentions with the car. So what's the difference? With the Convenience Pack you get the open differential but with the Circuit Pack you get an uprated Torsen limited-slip differential in which is capable of optimum torque distribution between all four wheels resulting in a more sporty dynamic feel, this also allows for improved handling ability and more corner speed, meaning you can keep the accelerator down through corners and enjoy the AWD rally system!

SO, WHAT NEXT?

It's still early days for the Yaris but we can be sure that we have plenty more mods in the pipeline and are currently speaking with suppliers such as Powerflex, Forge Motorsport, and even Pipercross to develop some very exciting parts 👀

So stay tuned, and make sure you follow us on social media to get exclusive first looks, and to stay up-to-date with what will be following with the Yaris GR in the not too distant future.
